Hanover Pays Tribute - January 30, 2014
Matthew Cox will be laid to rest today, Thursday, January 30. It will be a day filled with great sadness, but also one filled with sweet memories of a young man loved and respected by so many. Every member of the community grieves this loss, and will likely pay tribute in some way. Some will offer a simple prayer or moment of silence, or perhaps quietly wear the now familiar blue ribbons or wristbands. Others will feel compelled to gather together to pray or be more visible in their show of support. If you haven't seen the posts detailing the arrangements for services, you can access Sullivan Funeral Home's notice here, or read the list below to see how community members plan to pay tribute to Matt.
- 11:00 - Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church
The burial is private and will be held at the Hanover Center Cemetery following the Mass. - 11:45 - Community members will be gathering at the town playground parking lot on Hanover Street and plan to hold signs along the road for the funeral procession. There are extra signs if you would like to join them.
- All Day - Hanover Hockey players will be wearing their shirts tomorrow to school and to the service to honor Matt, but as he played many sports in this town - lacrosse, baseball, football, soccer - kids could really wear any game shirt.
